SUPPORT
GROUP
Infertility
is not simply a physical condition. It is also an emotional and
social condition, carrying with it intense feelings which require
careful support from physicians, nurses, counsellors and embryologists
involved in the care of the patients. Comprehensive management of
infertility is now recognised to include both the physical and emotional
care of the couple.
CAREPL has an in-house group of patients who are willing to meet or discuss over the telephone about personal fertility issues and experiences. CAREPL is also is affliated
to the IVF Support Group started by ParentLink. The support group members help couples to manage difficult
feelings through contact with other infertile couples and counselling. Please visit their website (www.ParentLink.org) to find out more.
CAREPL's objectives is not only to provide high quality clinical
and laboratory services but also the psychosocial support to help
couples manage the difficult feelings of extreme depression and
grief which often overwhelm couples who are denied a child they
so earnestly hope to conceive and parent.
